The Orange & Blue are back to their winning ways as they got the revenge they so desperately wanted after falling to San Diego just three weeks prior, notching a 27-19 victory over the Halloween weekend.

Denver has scored a total of 27 points in back-to-back weeks in the wins—with help from both sides of the ball but, like always, we here at BSN have chosen our three stars from the well-earned win.

Juwan Thompson

Juwan Thompson, a 2014 undrafted free agent out of the Duke, has been on the Broncos’ practice squad to start the 2016 campaign and was patiently waiting for his shot at the big times this season—Sunday was that chance.

Thompson replaced injured running back C.J. Anderson on the roster after Anderson was placed on IR earlier in the week and is showing both fans and coaches that he was well deserving of such an honor. No. 40 had quite the interesting stat line as well: one rush, one yard, and one touchdown. It was the first score on the season and number four for his career.

“If they give me that one opportunity, I’m going to try and make the best out of it,” he said after the game.

Riley Dixon

When vice-president of football operations John Elway released veteran kicker Britton Colquitt, people were in awe of what had just transpired. As the saying goes, though, “In Elway [they should] Trust.”

Dixon, the only punter on the Orange & Blue roster, punted a total of five times for 253 yards on the afternoon, including a booming 68-yard bomb out of the back of Denver’s own end-zone to flip the field with just 2:19 left in a one possession game.

The rookie out of Syracuse was given a game ball for his 50.6-yard average on the day.

Wade Phillips

Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips had—by far—the scariest day out of both teams when Chargers running back Melvin Gordon accidently ran into him, knocking him to the ground and causing team doctors to call upon the stretcher. Phillips was taken to a nearby hospital and was released that night.

While Phillips was both on and off the field, his defense played lights out. Three different Broncos’ had an interception, including a 49-yard pick-six from Bradley Roby. The team also had multiple batted balls, none bigger than a deflected pass from Lorenzo Doss in the end zone.

“Wade, he’s been big for us. He’s a great coach and we love playing for him,” defensive end Jared Crick told media after the win. “To find out he was alright, it gave us confidence to go out there and just play ball.”

It just goes to show that even when the coach is not present, he can still inspire his men.
