The Denver Broncos traveled to the Sunshine State to take on a Jacksonville Jaguars squad who had lost their previous six games by a combined score of 199-113, and the Mile High Crew made sure to add to their woes.
Denver upended Jacksonville 20-10 with rookie quarterback Paxton Lynch under center to notch his first ever victory in the National Football League.
It was not all Lynch and the offense, however—quite the opposite, actually. The defense shined in a win that was imperative for the Orange & Blue, cementing themselves in the sixth seed in the AFC Playoffs.
The win would not have been unachievable without the play of our three stars of the day.
Riley Dixon
Riley Dixon is making the decision to cut veteran punter Britton Colquitt during training camp look like one of the better roster moves for John Elway and Co. this season.
Dixon punted the ball 11 times in total Sunday for a whopping 506 yards, fifth most in Broncos’ history and the most since Chris Norman had a 517-yard day in 1985.
No. 9 is averaging 45.9 yards per attempt and has a total of 2,986 yards on the season.
Chris Harris Jr.
Harris was untouchable on Sunday, holding Jags QB Blake Bortles to a 2.8 passer rating when targeting the former undrafted corner. To top it off, Harris put on a display of incredible athleticism and concentration when he picked off a bobbled pass.
With that interception, Harris becomes only the fifth cornerback to record at least two interceptions in the last five seasons.
Bradley Roby
Bradley Roby, with the help of Von Miller creating pressure, was able to get into the head of Jacksonville quarterback Blake Brotles and undercut a streaking receiver for the easiest 51-yard pick-six you’ll see.
The Denver Broncos now have four defensive scores this season, including two from Roby himself as he also had a 51-yard pick-six against San Diego. That being said, Roby became just the ninth Denver Bronco in team history to have multiple interceptions returned for touchdowns.
