The Denver Broncos did everything they could to solidify their spot in what many consider the toughest division in Football Sunday but only found themselves in the latter portion of the wild AFC West. Denver, now in sole position of third place, watched division rival Kansas City eke out a 30-27 overtime victory after kicker Brandon McManus missed a game-winning 62-yrad field goal.
With the taste of defeat so fresh in the mouths of fans and coaches alike, it is hard to find solace in the little things, but just because it’s dark, doesn’t mean there were not stars that shined bright.
Von Miller
Von Miller received the largest contract for a non-quarterback in the history of the league and is showing fans that he was worth every penny this season.
No. 58 racked up quite the stat line Sunday: three sacks, ten total tackles (four for loss), and one pass deflected. His three-sack performance ties a single-game career high and is the second time Miller has accomplished such a feat this season.
With his trio of takedowns, Miller ties the Orange & Blue’s all-time sack leader Simon Fletcher for most seasons accumulating ten or more sacks with five and now leads the league with 12.5 sacks on the year, two more than Lorenzo Alexander of Buffalo.
Emmanuel Sanders
Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders caught seven balls on ten attempts for a whopping 162 yards and one score in the loss, marking the second-highest total in his career. Midway through the fourth quarter, quarterback Trevor Siemian was able to find a streaking No. 10 on back-to-back plays of 64 yards and 35 yards respectfully, the latter going in for what was the go-ahead score at the time.
According to BSN Denver’s own Zac Stevens, Sanders had more receiving yards at the time of his lone touchdown (162) than Kansas City had total offense (130.)

Trevor Siemian
Broncos’ second-year gunslinger Trevor Siemian has seen his ups and down this season but showed maturity and poise Sunday night needed to sustain the starting job.
Siemian not only threw for a career-high 368 yards and three touchdowns Sunday night, he committed zero turnovers and was able to find the open man whenever it was needed most. Sunday night’s stellar performance was only the fifth time in team history a quarterback threw for 350 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions with John Elway doing it once, and Peyton Manning four times.
After the game, when Kubiak was asked about the performance of his young star, he simply stated, “I’m proud of him. He played really well.”
