With National Signing Day less than three weeks away, Mike Bobo and the Rams got a nice surprise Thursday when Georgia athlete Marquese Taylor announced his commitment to Colorado State via Twitter. The 5-11, 169-pound cornerback/wide receiver originally committed to California.
Taylor put together a solid senior season at Lovejoy High School, catching 28 passes for 574 yards and nine touchdowns. The speedster also returned four kickoffs for 76 yards, including a long of 32 yards.
Bobo can add Taylor to his list of explosive receivers in 2017, which also includes Preston Williams, as well as returning starters Olabisi Johnson and Michael Gallup. Taylor’s pure speed and versatility could allow Bobo to use him in a role similar to Detrich Clark in 2016.
Scout.com ranks Taylor as the 12th-best athlete in Georgia and 31st overall in the south. In addition to California, Taylor received offers from Cincinnati, Purdue, Tennessee and Western Michigan, among others.
