The return of "Avalanche Treasure Hunt" (Updated, with clues)

NOTE: Scroll down for clues as to where the items are.

In another life, I sometimes held a fun event called “Avalanche Treasure Hunt”, where I gathered various Avs trinkets, souvenirs and/or other memorabilia. They were pretty popular and I liked doing them.

The way it went was: I’d show some items that, one by one, I’d hide them at various places of my choosing around town. Then, I’d leave clues on my blog/site as to where the latest item could be found. Once they were found, I’d ask for the lucky finder to take a picture and send it to me, so I could show the world.

There are eight items in this new hunt, pictured above. From from top-left, going clockwise, we have: A signed copy of my latest book at the Avs (hey, you didn’t think I wouldn’t try for one book plug as part of this, did you?), a Denver Post special section devoted to Patrick Roy after he retired (I’ll sign that one too, since I wrote most of the copy in it), a VHS tape of the Avalanche’s first Stanley Cup win (hope you have an old working VCR somewhere. If not, still a cool item), a Patrick Roy bobblehead in which the face of the guy on it looks….nothing at all like Patrick Roy, a very cool MacFarlane action figure of Teemu Selanne from his one year as an Av, a framed, actual ticket of the Avs’ very first game, Oct. 6, 1995, against Detroit and a couple of game programs from the Avs’ last-ever visit to Joe Louis Arena, which some cool pictures and articles of the rivalry inside. Also, a couple of “Hockeytown” napkins from the Joe Louis media meal room.

In the middle of the items pictured is a lanyard/maybe luggage device from the 2001 NHL All-Star Game, the one held in Denver.

I plan on having the treasure hunt tonight. I’ll drive around the area, hide one item at a time, then I’ll come back to this story and update it with clues and the time I hid it. If you are the lucky finder, take a pic of it and send me a copy at adater@comcast.net. Then, I’ll post them all here for everyone to see.

I probably won’t start hiding them until 8 p.m. or so. If that’s too late for some of you, I’m sorry. I tend to hide them in what I think are cool, public places, but they often take a little digging, literally and figuratively, to find them.

Give me some feedback here, if you plan on being a part of the hunt.

OK, IT’S THURSDAY NOW, and the items are out, ready for you to find. Again, send me a pic of your treasure and I’ll post later (and which will let others know the item has been found, which I’ll update as it happens.
