  • This year’s Nuggets may be the most talented in the history of the franchise, 1 through 12, but not the most talented 1 through 6. That was the ’84-’85 team, who legitimately had a chance to win the WCF against the Showtime Lakers … but for debilitating injuries to Alex English, Calvin Natt, Fat Lever, and Mike Evans. Those Nuggets eventually succumbed to the Lakers in five games. Those four players along with an aging Dan Issel and defensive ace, T.R. Dunn, comprise the best team the Nuggets have ever had, plus those Moe teams were perennial playoff contenders. Until Malone’s teams can, at least, make it to the WCF, they’ll remain the second (if not third, behind, possibly the 2009 team as well) best team in franchise history.
