The Denver Nuggets have plenty of room for improvement heading into game two

1. Here is a great example of Michael Porter Jr. can put pressure on the defense when he brings the ball up the court.

2. The Utah Jazz do a great job of disguising their screens. In this clip, Donovan Mitchell catches Michael Porter Jr. by surprise when he appears to be cutting through to the corner before diving right in front of him for the first of a stagger screen.

3. One of a hundred examples of the little details that veteran players learn over time on the defensive end.  Porter gets caught lowering his hands after Joe Ingles gives him the ball fake.

4. There were two really big moments in this game where Denver either got unlucky, lost focus, or a little bit of both.  They had a nine point lead late in the first quarter. Just a few seconds into the second quarter that lead was down to three.

In addition to providing yet another example of Jerami Grant’s  right -left dribble drive crutch, this empty possession was one of four that Denver had to end the quarter by being a bit too aggressive and out of control at a moment when they could’ve very easily opened up a double digit lead heading into the half.

6. Porter Jr. needs to learn that every inch of the court has its own value and every inch that you concede to the defense lowers your odds of scoring.

8. At Tuesday’s media availability, Michael Malone stressed that Mitchell is successful attacking the basket going to to his right hand and that that detail was very high on Denver’s scouting report.

9. When it was winning time, the Nuggets pulled through with some impressive rotations and hustle.
