ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — One of the greatest eras in Denver Broncos football has come to an end.

On Monday, the Broncos traded Von Miller to the Los Angeles Rams, DNVR has confirmed.

In exchange for arguably the greatest player in franchise history, the Broncos will receive a 2022 second-round pick and a 2022 third-round pick from Los Angeles.

As part of the deal, Denver has agreed to pay $9 million of Miller’s remaining $9.7 million salary, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The former No. 2 overall pick’s time comes to a close after an up-and-down year. Miller was named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Year for the month of September after racking up four sacks, six quarterback hits and six tackles for a loss.

In the four games Miller has played in since, he’s only totaled 0.5 sack, three quarterbacks hits and one tackle for a loss. Miller was held out of Sunday’s game against the Washington Football Team due to an ankle sprain.

The future Ring-of-Fame pass rusher’s 110.5 career sacks is the most in the franchise’s history. Miller is the only defensive player in the organization’s history to be named MVP of a Super Bowl, after his magnificent playoff run in 2015 where he racked up five sacks in three games.

After the Broncos’ recent struggles, coupled with Miller’s lack of production, it was increasingly looking like 2021 was going to be Von’s last year with the team. By receiving two Day 2 picks, George Paton received excellent value for moving on from an elite player nine games before he likely would have been gone anyway.

Without Miller, the Broncos will rely on Malik Reed and Jonathon Cooper at outside linebacker until Bradley Chubb returns from injury.

Paton and the Broncos have until Tuesday’s 2:00 P.M. trade deadline to make any additional trades.
