Kareem Jackson’s time with the Broncos is not over.

The veteran safety agreed to terms to return to Denver one a one-year deal, a source confirmed to DNVR. The deal was agreed to over the weekend, a source told DNVR.

This will be Jackson’s fifth season with the Broncos after he joined the team during free agency in 2019.

Despite being 35 years old, last year, Jackson proved he still had more in the tank after posting a career-high 94 tackles to go along with three passes defended, two fumble recoveries and two tackles for a loss.

For the second time in his tenure with the Broncos, the hard-hitting safety also played in every game for Denver. Additionally, Jackson played the most snaps of any player on defense, playing in more than 99.5 percent of the team’s snaps.

The move comes a week after Sean Payton and George Paton used a sixth-round pick on safety JL Skinner out of Boise State. With Jackson back, he joins a crowded safety room, which includes the veteran safety, the rookie, Caden Sterns, PJ Locke, Delarrin Turner-Yell and, of course, Justin Simmons.

For weeks, all signs pointed to Jackson returning to Denver, with both sides publicly expressing interest.

It’s unclear if Jackson will pick up right where he left off last year as an every-down player, or if the younger safeties will rotate in with him.

Since joining the Broncos, Jackson and Simmons have formed one of the best safety duos in the entire NFL. The two also compliment each other’s games well as Jackson is the hard-hitter and Simmons is the ballhawk.

In 2019, John Elway lured Jackson to Denver as a high-prized free agent, signing the safety to a three-year, $33 million contract. Before Jackson could see out the final year of the deal, however, the Broncos cut him to save cap space. Later in the 2021 offseason, Denver re-signed Jackson to a one-year, $5 million contract.

Last offseason, the Broncos once again re-signed Jackson to a one-year, $2 million deal.

For a third-straight year, Paton locked in Jackson to one more one-year deal.

No. 22 is back in Orange & Blue.
