On Saturday night, at the NFL Honors ceremony in San Francisco, the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2016 will be selected. Three Denver Broncos have been selected as finalists in Terrell Davis, Steve Atwater and John Lynch.

This being his second consecutive year as a finalist, Davis is allowing himself to get his hopes up.

“I’m more excited this year; I really am,” Davis told media on Thursday. “Last year was the first time that I had to actually sit in the room and wait because I was a finalist for the first time, the previous years, at this point, I was already eliminated. Like I said, I’m excited about the possibility of it happening, but I also have to be prepared if it doesn’t happen. Obviously, I would be disappointed. Until they tell me no, I’m still in this race so I’ll stay excited until Saturday.”

Davis’ wife will be in attendance with him this year which is a good thing because last year there was a bit of a mixup.

“Last year I was in the hotel room — they called my house, so my wife answered the phone,” Davis explained. “She called me and thought that was the news we were waiting to hear. I said, ‘Unfortunately if you’re picked, they show up at your door.'”

This time, Davis will sit in that room with his wife by his side, hoping to hear the news that he has received the highest honor in football. But, like any competitor, he’s always hoping for more.

“If [all three Broncos] went in at the same time that would be a great class, right?” He said. “That would be awesome, especially if Denver wins, we all go in, Super Bowl 50, that would be nice.”

It’s a tall order, but it would make for one heck of a week for the Denver Broncos and their fans, we’ll find out if the first leg of the dream falls into place on Saturday.
