Despite traveling around the country with his own late-night gig as a professional athlete, Kyle Freeland plans to be rather active when it comes to Stanley Cup Final. “I’m still kind of debating on maybe taking a quick trip to Tampa for Game 3 on our off day when we’re in Miami,” the Colorado Rockies Opening Day starter said. “We’ll see if we can do it.” The hometown hero who was able to take in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals when the Rockies-Marlins game was rained out at Coors Field has ambitions even more far ranging that just witnessing one game in person. “Hopefully, (the parade) lines up to where we’re here and we can go out and…

Entering phase two of the offseason following the end of the lockout on March 10, it appeared that the Colorado Rockies might go into Opening Day with several positional battles. Center field was wide open, as was the role of the team’s closer. Left field had a similar feel to it, unless Connor Joe wasn’t convincing enough during his 211...

Raised in Centennial and a graduate of Regis Jesuit HS in Aurora, Ty Blach will get the ball in the first Spring Training game of 2022 for the Colorado Rockies on Thursday. Blach was originally signed on a minor league deal by Colorado as starting pitching depth during a time in the offseason when the lockout prevented major league free agents from doing so. A veteran of four Major League seasons, Blach was a fifth round selection by the San Francisco Giants in 2012 out of Creighton University. Fittingly, his Major League debut was against the Rockies at Coors Field.  “It was a pretty amazing moment to be running out of the bullpen,” the 31-year-old said of September 5, 2016.…
