What players are most important to protect? And which Rockies would surprisingly be available? You can also check out countless unlocked articles now, such as the one below, if you…

Jackie Robinson won the first Rookie of the Year Award in 1947. Forty years later, it was renamed to honor the Civil Rights trailblazer. While Colorado may have developed many talented All-Stars during their time, starting pitcher Jason Jennings is the only Rockie to ever earn the NL Rookie of the Year Award. Jason Jennings Award for Rookie of the Year There was zero shortage of rookies this season as 10 different prospects made their Major League debut with Colorado in 2022. Yet a rookie who debuted in 2021 was the one who proved most valuable to the club throughout the season. This approach of giving big league experience was precisely what fans witnessed during the final weeks with promotions…

For every fan who sat through all 162 games this season for the Colorado Rockies, you should be saluted. Despite witnessing the fifth-worst season in franchise history (68-94, .420), there were moments that made an indelible mark on all our memories, even if you experienced it the morning after. That, ultimately, is the reward for committing to a team: memories that leave a mark in our minds and make an impact on our hearts. The Heartstrings There are no any shortages of heartfelt moments in our National Pastime. The start to the 2022 season captured hearts in Denver in an unexpected way.  There was the first full-capacity Opening Day in three years – with the city’s own Kyle Freeland given…

And just like that, it’s all over. With a 6-1 loss to the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon, the Colorado Rockies finished their 2022 season with a 68-94 record (.420) and with sole possession of last place in the National League West. The first official offseason for Bill Schmidt as general manager brought about some big investments. Schmidt signed five free agents, swung a trade for a big league outfielder and locked up four Rockies to multi-year extensions before Opening Day. Extensions for Kyle Freeland and Daniel Bard during the season raised the total amount of new guaranteed money to $428 million following the end of the 2021 season. Despite the financial expenditure for a roster that appeared…

At 6’5” and 226 lbs, Michael Toglia was built to hit baseball a long, long way. Toglia launched three home runs with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes on August 27. That gave him 30 for 2022, third-most this season among Colorado Rockies minor leaguers. After only 97 games at Double-A earlier in the year, Toglia set the Hartford Yard Goats single-season record with 23 home runs. (Brenton Doyle later tied this mark.) As much as this appeared to indicate he was ready for the big leagues, the UCLA product could have made his MLB debut much earlier. And not because of his bat. “I think his time in Denver is going to be soon,” Todd Helton said of Toglia to Danielle…

Drew Goodman, voice of the Colorado Rockies for AT&T SportsNet, shares his thoughts on the final week of the season. Which players – and why – should we monitor? Who won’t be on the field in Los Angeles? And what moves do the Rockies need to make for 2023? Goodman also shares his thoughts on 2007 Rockies on the 15th anniversary of Game 163 after dropping some knowledge on how rookie Sean Bouchard is similar to Yankees’ Aaron Judge. Colorado Rockies GM Bill Schmidt addressed the media on Saturday in the same dugout occupied by several of the prized prospects touted as the reason for optimism. Opening with remarks that thanked the fans for supporting his team, Schmidt highlighted the future of the franchise in the form of their farm system. “Needless to say, the season hasn’t met our expectations, but at the same point a lot of good things went on that don’t show up here every day,” before adding, “And I say that in terms of our minor leagues and some of the foundational pieces that we’re going to need going forward.” Schmidt spent significant amounts of the 14 minutes discussing the youth of the organization. Ezequiel…

Drew Goodman, voice of the Colorado Rockies for AT&T SportsNet, helps break down the different between the hype and hope for Ezequiel Tovar. What are the intangibles of the 21-year-old shortstop? Michael Toglia is not someone who wastes time introducing himself to fans of the Colorado Rockies. In his first game in front of the Coors Field crowd at the Futures Game in 2021 as part of the MLB All-Star Game festivities, he slugged a home run.  Upon getting promoted to Triple-A Albuquerque on August 9, he promptly swatted seven home runs over 17 games. Toss in a base hit in his MLB debut, first career home run against one the best closers in the game over the last decade and then another homer from the opposite side of the plate. https://twitter.com/KelsWingert/status/1565154831983067137 Now we must add two triples in the same game – in consecutive innings, no less – during Colorado’s…

Colorado had everything going in their favor on Monday night, namely a 5-1 early lead over the slumping Giants who didn’t arrive at their hotel until after 2 a.m. Alas, Chad Kuhl got Coors Field-ed and the seven run from the Rockies’ lineup wasn’t enough. How did it fall apart? What kind of infamous MLB debut did we just witness? And what did Michael Toglia do that only Hall of Famer Larry Walker has accomplished? </p> BUY TICKETS HERE: https://gametime.hnyj8s.net/c/3442941/1443269/10874 If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, crisis counseling and referral services can be accessed by calling 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537) (IL/IN/LA/MI/NJ/PA/WV/WY), 1-800-NEXT STEP (AZ), 1-800-522-4700 (CO/NH), 888-789-7777/visit http://ccpg.org/chat (CT), 1-800-BETS OFF (IA), 877-8-HOPENY/text HOPENY (467369) (NY), visit OPGR.org (OR),…

Kyle Freeland loves to pitch against Milwaukee about as much as Yonathan Daza loves multi-hit games. After a loss on Labor Day, Rockies take the next two and win a series over the contending Brewers. Rockies got roasted by the Brewers on Labor Day while fans roasted in their giveaway winter caps (and roasted the team on social media). Who homered late to keep a streak alive? How many UCLA Bruins were on the field this time? And how difficult is it deciphering quotes between The Sandlot and The Godfather? Plus, Patrick and Suzie check the infirmary for positive news on injured Rockies before peeping some tweets about a damaged MLB ballpark that looked worse than a high school field. In an almost repeat performance, Germán Márquez was mighty fine once again to held Colorado stave off a sweep. At the plate, it was Michael Toglia contributing and C.J. Cron slugging. What odd symmetry do the last two Friday’s possess? How obscure are Cincinnati Reds really? And what were our favorite moments of August? Patrick and Suzie also look toward the upcoming series at home against Milwaukee and Arizona, while praising the Diamondbacks for pointing their organization in the right direction. Voice of the Hartford Yard Goats Jeff Dooley joins the show to talk all things Rockies prospects – including Michael Toglia’s early action in the big leagues and Zac Veen’s swag down in Double-A. Before the Colorado Rockies hit the road for a 10-game trip in three cities across 11 days, manager Bud Black was asked about what he sees as most important during the final month of the season. “We’ll have a couple of new players in September,” he said. “We’re hoping it might be a new face or two here to evaluate.” The promotion of 2019 first-round pick Michael Toglia on Tuesday was a great example of this focus. The 24-year-old switch-hitter didn’t wasted any time recording his first big league base hit and home run during Wednesday’s night 3-2 loss.  Currently, the 40-man roster is full. Kris Bryant (plantar fasciitis in left foot) could move from the 15-day IL to the…

Michael Toglia notches his first hit and home run – a ninth-inning blast with two outs against closer Kenley Jansen – to make Wednesday’s game interesting. How else did he impress? On Tuesday afternoon, the Colorado Rockies selected the contract of 1B/OF Michael Toglia. The 23rd overall selection in the 2019 MLB Draft, Toglia presents the arrival of the next generation of players. Ezequiel Tovar, Zac Veen, Drew Romo, Benny Montgomery and many more top picks and international talents are ready to follow suit. The 24-year-old from UCLA was taken with Colorado’s first pick three years ago and has hit for power at every level. His professional debut saw him slug nine home runs in just 145 at-bats in 2019. Last year, the switch-hitter hit 22 home runs while playing at both High-A Spokane and Double-A Hartford. Between stops, he showed off his prodigious power in front of the hometown crowd…
