1. After the game, Michael Malone fumed over Denver’s defensive effort and ranking dead last in defensive efficiency through 7 games inside of the bubble. I’m curious if he’ll feel the same way on Friday having rewatched the tape. https://youtu.be/u77pO1fcJ9I 2. One of the most encouraging things that stood out on second watch of the game was the budding three-man...

One can go back to media day this year to find the seeds of the conversation we’re in the midst of now. The Denver Nuggets were again without three starters — Jamal Murray (hamstring tightness), Will Barton III (knee), Gary Harris (hip) — as they took on the San Antonio Spurs in their third game of the bubble. A third straight game without three of the team’s most important players might have evoked concern. Still, Nuggets fans were mainly concerned with a...

1. Jerami Grant really stood out on rewatch of this game and for a few surprising reasons, most notably the height mismatch that he found himself with in the post and on the wing. The Spurs play small to begin with and the Nuggets played big with Grant occupying the small forward position alongside Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap or alongside Mason Plumlee and Michael Porter Jr. who drew San Antonio’s tallest forward defender. That left Grant with guard sized defenders on more than a few occasions and the Nuggets were able to exploit that by allowing him to operate out of the post. https://youtu.be/b-efm2JqBy0 2. One of my favorite plays of the game and a beautiful job in the…

It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience. – Julius Caesar Strangely, the Roman Empire didn’t start out as an empire. Initially, they were simply another fighting force amongst so many in the Europe/Mediterranean region. But what they lacked in size and knowledge, they made...

The Denver Nuggets have won 40 games. They’ve played as well against teams with winning records as virtually any contender. They have wins that stand up with the best by any side all season long — like a shorthanded win in Milwaukee on the second night of a back-to-back, or ‘The Seven’ marching through the mountains into Salt Lake City,...

“JERAMI GRANT HAD FORTY-NINE POINTS TONIGHT!!!” I had just walked in the door, and knew I’d misheard her. I was sure I had something crazy in my ear. I wanted to ask my wife to repeat herself. I somehow encapsulated all of that response into something a little briefer: “HE WHAT????” The “what” had landed in a register I thought the...
