Colorado Golf Podcast

Social media plays a huge role in all of our lives- and the PGA Tour is trying to capitalize on it. The Golf Bros discuss the new incentives for tour players to be more active on social media. There was also some major beef (or is there) between Bryson and Brooks that we had to discuss. Plus a recap of Colonial and a preview of the upcoming PGA event at Muirfield Village- the Memorial

It began with a birdie chip in by Mitch and a 6 hole lead before the front 9 was over, but then the tides turned and Spence chipped in for birdie on 18 to halve the match. Make sure to check out the Colorado Golf Association website for all the member play days where you get the chance to play private clubs without paying a huge fee!

After a red letter weekend for Big Drive Energy, the Golf Bros sit down to recap a huge success from Saturday with the Inaugural DNVR Golf shootout being completely sold out with everyone having a great time. Then, if you tuned into last weeks pod and followed our picks of the week you found yourself up 15 units after Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith took home the trophy at the Zurich Classic. We finished up the week with the day long hole in one challenge on Monday where we took over 700 golf shots trying to make an ace from 140 yards. Last but certainly not least they give out picks for this weekends Tour event, the Valspar Championship …

Stewart Cink dominated at the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town, setting the course record for 2 rounds and cruising to a 4 shot victory at 19 under. He had his son on the bag and a hot mic picked up his son talking to him after the final putt and we got a little dusty. This got us thinking of other father son duos in the golf world and professional sports world. We wrap up this weeks pod with some picks and a preview of the only team event on the PGA Tour- the Zurich Classic in New Orleans

A hole in one is the most sacred thing in golf. Sergio Garcia had a walkoff ace this weekend so it got us thinking- what are the actual odds of a hole in one? Why does the person that makes one have to pick up the bar tab at the course? How good are the golfers making them? All these questions answered and more in this weeks edition of Big Drive Energy.

The Golf Bros are joined by LPGA Pro and Instructor Kelli McKandless. She is the current owner operator of KMG18.com and the Golf Barn Parker- an immaculate indoor facility in her backyard in Parker. We discussed her Colorado Golf Expo presentation on breaking through in golf. Whether or not you are a beginner looking to get into golf or you’ve caught the bug already she explains how to level up and truly enjoy the great game we call golf! In this episode of Big Drive Energy the Golf Bros recap an exciting weekend at the Players culminating in a victory for Justin Thomas. In the same group with him Sunday was a 24 year old in his second full year on Tour Doug Ghim- whom Mitch played at the junior Ryder Cup academy a few years back. There are some great stories from their days down in Florida and how Doug Him got to the position he’s in now. Even with all his experience, Ghim was admittedly nervous on Sunday- and they have some tips and tricks on how to calm those nerves and start to play better, competitive golf. Then after a +6 unit week at the Players…

In this Episode of Big Drive Energy we discuss how Bryson just overpowered Bay Hill to take a one shot W over Lee Westwood. Then we answer a listener question and do a deeper dive on how to golf when you’re on a stricter budget with tips and tricks to get better without spending top dollar. We finish up with a preview of the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass preview with our Draftkings picks of the week.

Nick Faldo dunks on Rickie Fowler. Then we discuss the 2020 CAGGY awards- the staff picks and awards given out to Colorado golf courses by the Colorado Avid Golfer magazine. Which awards did they get right and which ones did they miss on? We finish up with our Draftking’s Sportsbook picks of the week for the Arnold Palmer at Bay Hill.

The Golf Bro’s open with discussion of Tigers recent issues, Twitter legend Max Homa taking home the W at Riviera against a stacked field, and the curse of the Puerto Rico Open. Then Utah Valley University’s strength and conditioning coach Cameron Dietz joins us (25:10) to discuss their programs current success sitting 7th in Division 1 golf. He tells us what a day in the life of a college golfer looks like, what exercises they perform in the weight room, and the current Canadien pipeline the university has in recruiting.

From keeping 3 different ball markers in your pocket to not cleaning your golf clubs after a good round, golfers of all kinds and ability level have superstitions and routines when they’re on the golf course- so we took submissions from all of our listeners to see what they do the day of (or night before) a round to get ready and hopefully play well. We also talk about Daniel Berger’s big win at Pebble Beach, and our Draftkings picks for this coming weekends stacked field at the Genesis invitational at Riviera.

Brooks Koepka storms back to win at TPC Scottsdale. DJ destroyed a volunteer with a ball which got us thinking of other times this has happened, and he also took home another Euro title with Finau finishing in – you guessed it- 2nd place! With the Pebble Beach pro am this weekend, we discussed our favorite golf courses among yearly tour stops and what makes them great. Finally we give our Draftkings picks for the PGA tour this weekend.

Patrick Reed and his burner account set twitter on fire this weekend after he seemed to be caught skirting the rules of golf again. Rory woke up in a mood and lost it on the proposal from the USGA and R&A to shorten distance for even amateur golfers. Then we get back on the gambling wagon to give you some Draftkings Sportsbook picks for this weeks event – The Sony Open at Wai’alae
