SPONSORED: Local real estate team makes community service a top priority

One local real estate company in Colorado is making headlines for things other than buying and selling homes. With 21 agents, Erica Chouinard’s RE/MAX Success team has become quite the powerhouse in the Denver market, but it’s the things they are doing in the community that is getting them much-earned recognition.

Back in March, Chouinard and her employees closed the office and spent the day with Habitat for Humanity. The team spent the day in the Green Valley Ranch area helping build homes for the less fortunate. Habit for Humanity believes that if a family has an affordable, stable home, they will have more to spend on food, medicine, child care, education and other essentials. Chouinard agrees with this notion.

This isn’t the first time Chouinard has done this, though. Her team is involved with Toys for Tots every November and they’re even planning a gala to support military veterans in August. For Chouinard, helping the community is the least she can do.

I think everyone has a dream. I think home ownership is the American dream. I think if anybody wants it bad enough and is willing to work for it, they should be able to own a home,” Erica said. “I do believe that it’s a privilege, not a right, but we all deserve to have that privilege if we work for it and Habitat for Humanity provides that.”

Chouinard continued, “It’s also about respecting the people that build homes for a living. That’s a blue collar job. It’s hard work. I know we all take it for granted but how many human beings touched our houses, between the plumbers and the siding guys and the roofers that are out there when it’s 100 degrees?”

“For Habitat specifically, the person who is getting the home works to help build other people’s homes as well so it’s a pay it forward situation for everybody involved.”
