On a D-League assignment with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Malik Beasley scored 16 points on 6-11 shooting and Juancho Hernangomez registered a double-double; 17 points and 11 rebounds in just 25 minutes, as the Skyforce flew past the Texas Legends 148-122.

Both Beasley and Hernangomez came off the bench for Sioux Falls and played 24 and 25 minutes respectively as the Skyforce controlled the game from the opening tip through the final stages of the fourth quarter.

For Beasley, this is his second stint with the Skyforce this year after appearing in two games in mid-December. The 20-year-old’s 16 points came mostly in transition and from the foul line where he went 4-5.

The No. 19 overall pick in this summer’s draft showed off the fluid athleticism that had scouts raving when he declared for the NBA draft after just one season at Florida State, something he hasn’t been able to display in limited minutes with the Nuggets so far this season.

Hernangomez, in his first D-League stint of the year, overmatched opposing big men all night who couldn’t contain him on drives from the perimeter. The No. 15 overall pick in this year’s draft doesn’t have the physical tools, yet, to play the four with Denver, but played exclusively four and five for Sioux Falls, what many view as the 21-year-old’s future position with the Nuggets.

Hernangomez shot 6-14 from the field, went 1-5 from distance and was 4-7 from the line.

Elsewhere, Keith Benson led the Skyforce with 25 points and 12 rebounds and Briante Weber scored 23 points to go with ten assists and six steals.

For the Legends, Manny Harris registered 28 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Sioux Falls and Texas face off again Saturday night.
