I posed this question on Twitter this morning and have gotten nearly 1,000 votes on it in about an hour, but I wanted to pose it here as well to all you subscribers to BSN:
The poll question: Should Matt Duchene get a video tribute from the Avalanche at the Pepsi Center Friday night, when Dutchy makes his first Denver appearance since the blockbuster trade of nearly a year ago?
Twitter only allows for 280 characters, but here at BSN, you can write literally as long as you want on this topic. Tell us why – or why not.
How do I feel about it? I don’t know if I have a real opinion on something like this. I’m kind of old school on this kind of thing. To me, only situations like Ray Bourque going back to Boston, or Wayne Gretzky going back to Edmonton for the first time – that’s the situation where a video presentation is warranted. A guy who played a few years? Meh.
So that means I vote no, right? Not necessarily. That’s fine if he gets one. I can see the argument for him deserving one. He really loved being an Av, until it all went bad in the end. I guess I’m reporter-neutral on this overall.
I’m more interested in what you – the fans – have to say. The floor is yours…
