Possible concern with dropping in the draft
“Definitely i’m so grateful and indebted to the Denver broncos for giving me an opportunity to redeem myself. I haven’t been a person with a lot of off the field issues, this one popped up a few days before the draft which was unfortunate. I cant wait to come in and give everything I can to this program.”
On off the field issue with marijuana citation
“Ive owned that and accepted the consequences, i’m not going to let it define my character. In coming to Denver i’m not going to have any off the field issues, Im going to give everything I can to the program.”
On teams passing on him
“I feel like they made a huge mistake and I cant wait to show them what a mistake they’ve made. I cant wait to learn from people like Von Miller and Demarcus Ware.”
On foot injury
“The issue with my foot is I haven’t had the time to rehab. I know that with the Broncos ill have everything I need to recover and by the time the season starts and Ill be the same Shane Ray you saw on the field last year.”
On Broncos talking with him this week about off field issues
“With them trading five picks (spots) to get me that shows their commitment to me and I owe them more than anything. I cant wait to come to Denver. I cant wait to be a sponge and learn from two greats in that defense, to play with Peyton Manning and help lead this team to a championship.”
On marijuana being legal in Denver and possibly being a temptation
“I was not under the influence when I was cited. Weed does not control my life and hasn’t controlled my life. It’s not a concern at all.”
Being considered a pass rush specialist and being able to play other aspects of the game
“Everyone who thinks i’m a one trick pony should go back and watch more film. Im more than capable of doing anything the Broncos require of me. I don’t have any issue dropping in coverage. I more than capable of doing anything the Broncos ask me at all including being the best pass rusher in the draft.”
