For the first time in Shane Ray’s life, he walked out onto to an NFL practice field, wearing an NFL jersey, with more than 3000 screaming fans waiting for him. “It was amazing when I came out here and I saw all the fans” he told me as he came off the practice field. He added, “I’ve never experienced something like that.”
It’s a dream coming to fruition for last years SEC Defensive player of the year.
As for the altitude, “It’s tough. The altitude definitely makes a huge difference on your breathing, ” Ray said. He added, “You have to work very hard to control your breathing, especially with how fast we’re moving and the number of reps we’re taking.”
Shane Ray was called a great listener by DeMarcus Ware on Thursday and he showed us why today. Shane told us, “To me it’s all about learning right now. It’s not about talking, it’s all about listening.” As for Ware speaking highly of the rookie, Shane Ray said, “DeMarcus is a legend to me – one of the best to ever do it,” He added, “Any advice that he gives me I take very personally.” It’s not just techniques either. Ray told us that DeMarcue Ware continuously talks to him about how to be a pro and how to look at things differently.

It’s safe to say that we will be seeing a lot of Shane Ray this season.
