On Tuesday morning, Ben Roethlisberger confirmed to 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh that he has a sprained AC joint and multiple torn ligaments in his throwing shoulder.
“I haven’t tried to throw a football since the game, and maybe that’s not even the right thing to do right away,” Roethlisberger added in the interview. “I’ll see the doctors and trainers tomorrow, we’ll evaluate kind of how I feel.”
According to uptodate.com, even the least severe grade of an AC joint sprain “may require two to three weeks to return to full activity,” for athletes who require an overhand motion, with the best remedy being rest and protection.
“I’m going to do whatever I can to be out there, but not at the expense of my team,” Roethlisberger said. “I’ll go in tomorrow with the intent to see what I can do. I honestly don’t know.”
The question for the Steelers will be if a banged up Roethlisberger shot up with pain killers is a better option than Landry Jones, who threw three touchdowns and four interceptions this season, including one that nearly ended their season last week.
As for the their best weapon, Antonio Brown, he’s still no lock to play either.

If even one of those two can’t go for Pitt, the face of the game changes dramatically.
