A fellow sees so many fans clamouring for Cron to be moved to open up playing time for Montero. The thought in this article is moving Rodgers to create the space for “Big E”. I’m not sure which idea I like more.

Since Cron only has one more year left on his contract, trading him in the next eight months is merely a formality. First base will be Michael Toglia’s starting in 2024. Toglia can play some right field, but it’s somewhat of a waste to leave him out there. Montero could make Colorado change their mind keep Toglia in RF.
Odds are that Toglia is at 1B for the long haul beginning in 2024, which still means there’s no room for either Montero or Rodgers. Should they waste the value of one of them or make a crafty trade that improves the starting rotation and/or bullpen? That’s the real question I hope the Rockies answer this offseason.
