Love the idea of Dahl, Hilliard & Blackmon in the outfield and McMahon at first and Rogers at second, now they just need to figure out how to get rid of Desmond and Murphy!

Really they only need to get rid of one of them if they are ok with the other being an overpaid but still very valuable bat off the bench and occasional platoon starter.

How is Desmond a very valuable bat off the bench? He’s the worst player in the NL. Drew, you are stretching the truth saying that about Murphy. I know, I know. He’s gonna bounce back…LOL

Desmond crushes lefties. Always has. If you limit his exposure to pitchers he can’t hit, his numbers will look a lot better.

yeah, and if they DFA’d him he wouldn’t be the worst player in the NL. Look Drew, the guy is a trash defender everywhere. So if all he can do is pinch hit against lefty’s maybe the Rox would be better off moving on.

Unfortunately, it appears that Desi’s off-field value is becoming more valuable than his on-field value. However, in the right role, he’s a key member to playoff contender. Sure, not as an every day starter and not as someone who’s been paid an average of $14MM. Until someone proves they can do more for the Rockies both on the field and off, it’s best to pay Desmond to suit up for Colorado than to simply go away.

It’s just dumb to play Dahl in CF.. so Rockies. Play Dahl in Left. Play Hilliard in right. Trade Chuck while you still can. Or let him be the overpaid but very valuable bat off the bench. Hampson in CF.

Trading Chuck will be a lot more difficult than it sounds but Hampson as an every day CF has a ton of potential.

Oh well, if it’s hard forget about it. We don’t the Rockies to do anything that’s hard.

Lol. Fair point. I meant it less that it will be hard for the Rockies to do and more that there just may not be a team out there willing to give them fair value for him. Or anything close to it.

Live the last look with Dahl, Hilliard, and Chuck. Run with Desi off the bench and Tap/Hampson as the reserve? I’ve heard before that Tap could be really good trade bait?
I’m so excited about this future look with more pop at the bat

Desi just hasn’t panned out… he has declined every year over the past years defensively and offensively he has plateaued. He’s basically another McMahon that doesnt get on base as much….
issue is salary, what do you do with a guy you are paying that much for? You have to get something out of him. If it’s some pop off the bench and off field support then so be it, but I think the Rockies are in a corner with dealing him out..
