Hey Drew and maybe Patrick, the draft is a few months away. Have you looked at prospects at all and have any caught your eye? I’m an ASU fan so I’ve been watching Spencer Torkelson rake in the desert. He’s a guy that would look great in Rockies purple.

Torkelson is fantastic. With the 9th and 35th pick overall this June, they have an opportunity to build on the last two years of strong drafts (which come on the heels of two weak drafts). After using two first round selections on first baseman in 2018 and 2019, Torkelson will not be in purple any day soon. Regardless of the presence of 1B Grant Lavigne and 1B Michael Toglia, Torkelson should go before Colorado’s selection.
I think there’s a fair chance the Rockies could go with Toglia’s former teammate from UCLA, Garrett Mitchell. There are also five college pitchers slated for the early parts of the first round and any one of those guys could be coveted, particularly Emerson Hancock of Georgia.
Keep in mind, MLB will conducting the draft this year in Omaha in correspondence with the College World Series. It might be a 7.5 hour drive, but one of those events that could be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
