I’m curious what is the potential future with Melville

Only time will tell. I think he’s displayed enough to earn a shot at a spot in the rotation, especially as the best five starters may not be the five healthiest starters come Opening Day 2020.
With Gray and Marquez the only starters as locks for next season, I think Freeland will have a spot in the rotation, too, even if it’s not all there. So, there are a lot of guys battling for the final two spots in the rotation. If Lambert is healthy, he’ll probably be given an edge next year, too. But a lot can happen between now and March 26 when they line up against the Padres in San Diego.
It will be interesting to see how Colorado handles his success as there will be a roster crunch at the end of the season and some players, like Pat Valaika, may find themselves getting designated for assignment and off the 40-man roster. If that happens with Melville, look for them to bring him back as a minor league signing and non-roster invitee to Spring Training.
