Hey Drew.

On the topic of being a Rockies fan in Europe, I’ve lived in Spain for 4 years now, and I can tell you my MLB.tv subscription is the most important purchase of the year.

With regards to avoiding spoilers, the MLB AtBat app has a “Hide Scores” option which works perfectly for watching archived games the day after, without knowing the outcome. People here have no interest in baseball whatsoever, so there’s no risk of someone at work spoiling it for you. Obviously you have to avoid social media altogether, including WhatsApp groups in which baseball is discussed.

Some of the early games I’m able to watch live (sometimes they start a 7pm or 10pm Spanish time), but mostly I just watch them the next day. In fact, having the flexibility to watch them at any point in the day, gives me the chance to watch a whole lot more games than when I lived in the US or Venezuela. Plus, being able to skip commercials, it takes me about 2.5 hours to watch a 3-hour game.

There are some negative things though. First, there’s always the possibility of someone or somehow spoiling the result, and that’s very annoying when it does happen. Second, while skipping commercials, you can sometimes infer from the progress bar (especially late in the game) when there’s going to be extra innings or if the bottom of the 9th is not going to happen, which can be annoying too.

Anyway, you can certainly follow the Rockies (or any other team for that matter) while living in Europe, it just takes an MLB.tv subscription.

Sorry for the long comment, hope it was useful and interesting.
