Plus, does it matter that Ian Desmond played the hero in the final contest? What about some key blunders that have nearly kicked some recent games away? And what was that whole deal with Matt Harvey?

Hey Drew,
The starting staff’s mental toughness and execution is really impressive and frankly historic for this franchise. You’re spot on with your assessment of Wade Davis’s performance thus far – he remains calm and locked in even when he’s struggling to locate. I’m referencing Adam Petersen’s recent article on Purple Row here – but coming into the season, the concerns centered on corner outfielders and first base. And six weeks in, every combination of Parra/Desmond/Cargo in the lineup is below average. I understand that at $22M, they have to give Desmond some starts. I’d like to hear your take on this approach – Dahl plays everyday, and you platoon Desmond with either Cargo/Parra for the remaining corner outfield spot – against lefties, Desmond is in left field with Dahl in right; against righties, you put Dahl in left field and either Cargo or Parra in right. And you hand over the first base job to Ryan McMahon. Even with his slow start, McMahon’s slash line gives them more value than what they’ve gotten out of the other 1B starts this season. I agree with Adam – it maximizes the development and the high ceilings of McMahon and Dahl. We know what we’re getting from Cargo and Parra (not enough for everyday starts, but an above-average 4th outfielder both defensively and offensively, and $0 cost past this season,). And we give Desmond enough opportunities to create some value for the price tag. I know you’re shouldering most of the Rockies coverage Drew – keep it up!
