With the Colorado Rockies just beginning the second half, they are seven games under .500. Entering a seven-game homestand the club has just a few more weeks before the trade deadline. We at BSN Rockies asked you for your questions on the club.

Here are your questions and our insight:

@IssacBeren: Putting germen in the ninth is a dumb move. Weiss tends to make strange pitching moves. Please tell me he will be gone soon.

Will Gonzalez Germen be gone soon? Of course, he hasn’t really shown he’s worthy of being on a big league roster. The Rockies are 12-21 when he pitches and a majority of the time he throws, it’s in mop up duty. But I think your question was about Walt Weiss.

I think Weiss, who has his contract expire at the end of this season will get picked up for another year. He’s proven he’s about a league average manager (if not a little bit better) this season. The guys in the clubhouse like him, he thinks the game and the Rockies organization is loyal. His only negative is that he doesn’t manage a bullpen that well, but when you factor out the results of his decisions, his decisions have good reasons behind them three times out of four.

@GolfYeezus: Do the Rockies actually believe this short 10 game stretch makes them a seller or buyer at trade deadline?

No. They will not be buyers or sellers in the traditional sense at the trade deadline no matter what. If they are offered a trade that they feel returns more value than what they are giving up they will make that deal.

Could they trade Mark Reynolds, Nick Hundley, Jorge De La Rosa and more? Sure. And they will be talked about on the market but I don’t think the Rockies are going to tear it down so to speak. Rather they may make one or two trades which affect their 25-man roster.

@will_e_777: Does the Front Office recognize that they should sell and get near-ready talent to reload and contend in 2017+?

Interesting question. Recognizing that Charlie Blackmon and Carlos Gonzalez will be impact players for a few more years I think you’re talking about some of the guys that have expiring contracts. In that case, I guess we’ll see. Personally, I’m not really sure how Nick Hundley helps you win next year, he was the perfect stopgap but it’s time for Tony Wolters and Tom Murphy or for them to acquire a legitimate veteran at catcher, maybe even Matt Wieters.

@RamblinWreck34: When will Parra return to lineup?

He started doing fielding drills over the weekend in Atlanta. Possible rehab assignment in the next 10 days. He should be back in no latter than a month from now with a possibility of being back August, 1.

@RamblinWreck34: Can Dahl play any other position?

He plays outfield, and strictly that. In five minor league seasons, he has played 275 games in center and 30 in each corner. He’s the centerfielder of the future but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get some action in left field early, particularly if Blackmon is still a Rockie.
