Thanks Patrick. As a kid who for so excited when the Sky Sox loved to COS back in the 80s when the nearest MLB games were in KC, minor league ball is essential to growing the fan base.

But there are a lot of people employed in non-field jobs at these clubs who are going to lose their jobs. And we’ve seen a spate of new ballparks for minor league teams (like Dunkin Donuts in Hartford) that need to generate revenue as well. This is bad all the way down. I know MLB has their own issues (as seen in the awful resumption discussions), but they need to find a way to help these teams, and a bit more strategic in their contraction ideas. If you shut minor league ball out across the upper Rockies, or sweep away teams in Cali and the Midwest, those kids and those fans will end up in NBA arenas and hockey rinks. They must be smart. I fear that won’t be.
