Rockies reinstate Ian Desmond, will start immediately

The Colorado Rockies have reinstated Ian Desmond from the Disabled List. And as manager Bud Black alluded to the possibility of earlier this week, he will not go out on a rehab assignment. Instead, the two-time All-Star will immediately rejoin the Rockies 25-man roster and, at least for the time being, the starting lineup.

There has been an awful lot of debate about what the Desmond return means for Mark Reynolds, though as we’ve pointed out, there is a way to make sure both get plenty of playing time. But the getting creative starts now for Bud Black and will only grow in difficulty once David Dahl and Tom Murphy are ready to go as well.

For today, he will get the start in left field.

Cristhian Adames has been DFA’d in a corresponding move.
