Major League Baseball has announced the nominees for the 2017 Gold Glove awards, honoring the best defenders in the National and American Leagues and there are three Colorado Rockies among them.

Least surprising of the nominees is, of course, Nolan Arenado who has already won the award four consecutive times. It would be a global news event if he were to somehow fail to take home his fifth. Arenado is widely considered not just the best third baseman in the game, but the best overall defender currently and maybe already the best at his position to ever play the game. Left fielder Gerardo Parra was somewhat surprisingly nominated for the

Also in a bit of a surprise, Trevor Story wasn’t nominated at shortstop but that may not even be the biggest snub at that position with Orlando Arcia of the Milwaukee Brewers missing the cut. Instead, Freddy Galvis of the Philadelphia Phillies, Brandon Crawford of the San Francisco Giants, and Corey Seager of the Los Angeles Dodgers will vie for the NL’s Gold Glove at short.
