Today, the Colorado Rockies officially announced the final 25-man roster for the 2017 season. The following players have earned the right to punch their ticket to Milwaukee for tomorrow’s season opener against the Brewers.
As we noted recently, the Rockies appear to be going with experience over potential for their bench though with Chad Qualls officially placed on the DL, appear to be doing the opposite in the bullpen with the inclusion of Scott Oberg and German Marquez.
Here is how the entire roster looks:
Position Players:
Catcher: Tony Wolters
First Base: Mark Reynolds
Second Base: DJ LeMahieu
Third Base: Nolan Arenado
Shortstop: Trevor Story
Left Field: Gerardo Parra
Centerfield: Charlie Blackmon
Right Field: Carlos Gonzalez
Starting Pitchers:
Jon Gray
Tyler Anderson
Tyler Chatwood
Antonio Senzatela (Rookie)
Kyle Freeland (Rookie)
Bullpen:
Greg Holland
Adam Ottavino
Jake McGee
Mike Dunn
Carlos Estevez
Scott Oberg
Jordan Lyles
German Marquez
Bench:
Alexi Amarista
Cristhian Adames
Dustin Garneau
Stephen Cardullo
Of note, of course, is that the Rockies are carrying not just two rookies in their five-man-starting-rotation, but two players who have yet to make their MLB debut. Freeland, a Denver native, appears primed to start the first game at Coors Field in 2017.
