The Colorado Rockies offense looks as lifeless as you favorite mindless zombies from whatever television program of the undead you prefer. Losing 3-0 to the San Diego Padres on Thursday night, Colorado dropped its fourth straight game and have been putting up offensive statistics that has fans spiking remotes in constant frustration.

The Rockies have scored zero runs in their last 19 innings, one in their last 24, and three in their last 31. They’ve hit into 14 double plays in the last seven ballgames. This is the third time in the last seven games they have been shut out.

Padres starter Clayton Richard dominated the Rockies offense all night, throwing 7.1 scoreless innings, scattering seven singles and walking just one batter while striking out eight. He induced three double plays while the Rockies went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and left six on base.

Scott Oberg finished that inning with a strikeout. Antonio Senzatela pitched a solid seventh, working around a one-out double with a pair of punch outs.

Colorado fell to 82-71 and have lost four in a row. With the Chicago Cubs making a dramatic comeback and winning in extras against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Rockies are still clinging to a one-game lead for the second spot in the National League Wild Card.
