The Colorado Rockies made a series of roster moves Monday afternoon starting with placing left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson right back on the Disabled List just one start after coming off of it. This is a tough blow for Anderson who has struggled with injuries in his history, though the hamstring tightness is only expected to keep him out for the duration of the 10-day DL stint.
Carlos Gonzalez will also have to go on the DL after battling shoulder soreness all week and hoping to avoid it. Raimel Tapia has played in his absence.
In corresponding moves, the Rockies have taken Chad Qualls off the DL and placed him back into the bullpen and — more interestingly — have called up right-handed flame-thrower Jairo Diaz who has been out since needing Tommy John surgery a season ago.

Diaz will get his opportunity to solve the Rockies recent issues in middle relief, and depending on his production may be able to do more than that. He made a name for himself in the minors with a fastball that can touch 98 mph so it will be interesting to see how his arm strength holds up after the surgery.
The Rockies bullpen has taken a shellacking over the last week, blowing four saves including Adam Ottavino’s crazy implosion Sunday afternoon. Diaz was once considered to have back-end potential and Colorado could really use someone with that kind of talent if he can harness it soon.
