Rockies add Axford on Minor League Deal

The Rockies added another arm to their Bullpen monday.

If RHP John Axford sticks in #Rockies bullpen he gets a $2.6 MM base w/ chance for performance bonuses that can bring earnings to $4.1 MM.

Colorado will be Axford’s 5th team entering his 7th season. Most recently Axford pitched for both the Cleveland Indians, and Pittsburgh Pirates in 2014, appearing in 63 games striking out 62 batters in 54.2 innings pitched.

Axford features a fastball that tops out around 95 mph, and will likely fill a set up role in Colorado’s bullpen for closer LaTroy Hawkins.
