Robbie Berwick is about to go to work for Colorado State Rams men’s basketball.

Berwick, formerly of Florida State University, is transferring to Fort Collins to play for Larry Eustachy.

The sophomore guard stands at 6-foot-4 and 188 pounds, and while he played 33 games for the Seminoles as a freshman, he played zero games in 2015-16, as a sophomore and is applying for a medical redshirt. As a freshman, Berwick appeared in every game, debuting his career with an 11 point performance against Manhattan (3-4 from the field and 2-3 from three). In limited minutes, he was the Noles third leading 3-point shooter with 19 made attempts (30 percent). He performed well in conference play with a 13 point career high against Virginia Tech as his biggest highlight. In 10 minutes a game, Berwick averaged 2.4 points and 1 rebound.

Coming out of high school, Berwick was an academic standout receiving an offer from Harvard as well as Fresno State, on top of the Seminoles. He was a four-year starter at guard for San Louis Obispo County in California and earned All-State honors in basketball and football his senior year.

Berwick is seen as a high IQ, versatile guard, with great length. One of the question marks he had coming out of high school was whether his jump shot could develop, his showing in his first season in the ACC is very promising in this regard.

Assuming all goes well with Berwick’s medical redshirt application, he will have three years remaining of eligibility and might be able to play for the Rams starting already in 2016-17, though that remains unclear.

After receiving the commitments of high-upside athletes like Che Bob and Lorenzo Jenkins, Eustachy has now added a versatile/intelligent guard who could help with ball handling duties and spreading the floor. An exciting mix of new blood has been added in the last month, now please just let the kid get to work.
