Ever since the Nuggets wore the classic version of their 1980’s and 90’s era Rainbow Skyline uniforms for their home opener in 2016 on the night the organization retired Dikembe Mutombo’s jersey, fans have clamored for their return.

Wednesday night, the Nuggets gave their fans what they’ve wanted.

Following their 108-107 win over the Bulls, the Nuggets released an updated version of the Rainbow Skyline uniforms that the team first wore 37 years ago.

“The current update of the City Edition uniform was a joint project between the Denver Nuggets and NIKE,” the team said. “The new design is meant to honor the classic design while modernizing it to fit the Mile High City’s advancement, evolution and modernization that is taking place in the present era.”

The Nuggets are scheduled to wear their City alternates seven times this season and will debut their new threads Nov. 13 at Pepsi Center versus the Rockets.

November 13 vs. Rockets
November 27 vs. Lakers
January 13 vs. Trailblazers
January 19 vs. Cavaliers
March 2 vs. Pelicans
March 16 vs. Pacers
April 10 vs. Timberwolves

Denver will debut its “Mile High City” Statement jersey at home Nov. 8 versus Brooklyn.

The Nuggets made the playoffs nine-straight seasons while wearing their Rainbow Skyline uniforms in the 80’s and 90’s. Maybe the updated version of the uniform released Wednesday brings the organization similar luck.
