DENVER — As the rumors surrounding Paul Millsap continue to swirl, what the Nuggets actually might give up in exchange for the three-time All-Star is becoming clearer.
According to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, the Nuggets are “openly shopping” Jusuf Nurkic.” It’s also widely assumed within NBA circles, according to Stein, that veterans Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried, and Wilson Chandler are available.
Denver, along with Toronto, Sacramento, and New Orleans are all reported suitors of Millsap, but Atlanta is asking for a lot in return for the power forward who can hit unrestricted free agency following this season.
Just how much one of those teams, including the Nuggets, will give up for Millsap, will likely sway the Hawks’ decision who are reportedly seeking at least one first round pick as a headliner in a potential trade.
Millsap is looked at as a ticket to the eighth seed by Denver, who desperately wants a postseason run and two home playoff games at Pepsi Center this season. In a typical year, where the eighth seed in the West would come in at around 40-45 wins, the Nuggets would likely already be out of the postseason hunt. But with the last playoff spot still up for grabs and with Denver in contention, you have to wonder which chips the Nuggets are willing to push towards the center of the table.
