Every NBA franchise, including the Denver Nuggets has interest in free agent, superstar, Kevin Durant this summer.

Since the Thunder were eliminated in the Western Conference Finals in seven games by the Golden State Warriors, Durant has kept his free agency plans close to his chest. Yet, little by little, details on where the biggest free agent on the market this summer will sign have started to leak out.

The Vertical’s Adrain Wojnarowski reported Friday that Durant will host free agent meetings starting July 1 with a decision on where he will play next year likely to be reached before Durant leaves on a publicity tour on July 9.

Oklahoma City remains the favorite to sign Durant, who could return to the Thunder on a one-plus-one-year deal, but the Warriors also have significant traction with Durant’s camp. The 27-year-old also plans to meet with the Celtics, Clippers, Heat, Spurs, and of course Thunder, per Wojnarowski.

The Vertical also lists a second tier of teams that have interest in Durant, which includes the Knicks, Lakers, Rockets, Wizards, and yes, the Nuggets.

Now the Nuggets don’t stand a chance at signing Durant, but it’s notable that they made the short list of teams Wojnarowski mentioned that have interest.

From Wojnarowski:

Several teams that have interest in Durant – the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards – could still find audiences with him, but appear to be outsiders in the process now.

If the Nuggets could somehow lock down a meeting with Durant, even if they’re not a legitimate threat to sign him, it could lift the appeal of the franchise and help get looks from free agents down the line.

As the core in Denver grows and the team’s win total jumps over the next couple of years, the Nuggets could start to emerge as an attractive place for free agents to play.
