According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Denver Nuggets will meet with Paul Millsap in Atlanta on Saturday night and try to convince the 32-year-old power forward to join the Nuggets.

Millsap will be courted by a small group from Denver consisting of president and governor Josh Kroenke, president of basketball operations Tim Connelly, and Denver’s starting shooting guard Gary Harris.

TNT’s David Aldridge of TNT, reports that the Phoenix Suns are no longer pursuing Millsap while the Minnesota Timberwolves, who were regarded as the biggest threat outside of Denver for Millsap’s services, could pull themselves from the chase as well. The door is now wide open for the Nuggets to sign the All-Star power forward.

It is not known what type of offer Denver will present Millsap but with talks reportedly breaking off with other teams it leaves the door open for the Nuggets to potentially lower their offer or work with the Hawks to build a sign-and-trade that consolidates their own roster.

Signing Millsap shows that Denver is not willing to take a back seat in the loaded Northwest Division and are looking to compete for the playoffs this season. Millsap is one of the best defenders in the league from the power forward position and his offensive versatility and elite basketball-IQ make him a dream fit in the frontcourt with Nikola Jokic.
