Colorado State has a handful of schedule openings over the next couple of years. According to FBSchedules.com though, the Rams now have one less opening in 2028.

On Sept. 30, 2028, CSU Football will make the trip to SEC Country where they will play the University of Oklahoma for the first time in program history. The game against the Sooners will reportedly net the Rams a $1.8 million guarantee.

With the OU game on the books, CSU currently has three non-conference opponents in place for the fall of 2028. The Rams will play at the University of Arizona on Sept. 2 and host Sam Houston one week later on the 9th. As things stand at the moment, CSU has openings on both the 16th and 23rd. They’ll presumably fill one of those dates with a home game though now that they already have a pair of P4 road trips to make.

The Rams have not been shy about scheduling big-time competition over the years. After making multiple trips to Alabama, facing Michigan in the big house and going up against Florida in the swamp, CSU will open the 2024 campaign at the University of Texas. The Rams have Big 10 trips to Washington, Indiana and Wisconsin slated over the next four years as well.

While most of the scheduling news of late has been exciting for Ram Nation, we did recently find out the home-and-home scheduled with Texas Tech over 2026 and 2027 will no longer be happening. The Red Raiders opted to pay the Rams $1 million rather than make the trip to Fort Collins in 2026. And in return CSU elected to opt out of their trip to Lubbock the following season.

Official scheduling announcements from CSU are expected to be made in the coming days. The game against the Sooners is not yet listed on either school’s website but will be in the near future. We may find out who some of CSU’s other future opponents will be, too.
