Reynolds has played for six teams in nine years, the most memorable was the Arizona Diamondbacks where he hit 44 home runs in 2009. In total, the right-handed hitting journeyman has 237 home runs in 1258 games. With the Cardinals in 2015, he played 140 games mostly as a first baseman hitting .230/.315/.398 while being an above average first basemen. His power has dipped since 2011 when he was 4th in the American League in homers, last year he only hit 13. Reynolds has led the league in strikeouts four times and has been known for his extreme strikeout rate.
The 32-year old will likely represent the smaller portion of a first base platoon between him and Ben Paulsen. He also is a solid bench bat that can spell Nolan Arenado at third base.
