Report: Arizona Diamondbacks under investigation for Wild Card game misconduct

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Arizona Diamondbacks are under investigation for improper use of an electronic watch. The paper has a photograph of coach Ariel Prieto wearing the type of watch that just got the Red Sox and Yankees in trouble.

Prieto was seen wearing the device, which can be used to steal signs and alert hitters to what pitch is coming, during the Diamondbacks 11-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies in the National League Wild Card game.

All we know at this time is that an investigation has been launched but not that Arizona has been found guilty of any wrongdoing.

In a statement released by MLB just weeks ago, the commissioner stated that all teams have been informed of possible sanctions from using such devices and notified they could lose draft picks if they are found guilty.

If it turns out the actions were inappropriate, such consequences will mean little to the Rockies and their fans. Certainly, it will be no consolation to Jon Gray.

We will have more details on the investigation as they emerge.
