The Denver Broncos made their celebratory trip to the White House on Monday as a reward for their incredible Super Bowl run in 2015. It was a celebration that brought former and current Broncos together to celebrate the success they achieved.
It also brought in a player currently abstaining from the Broncos offseason program as he works towards inking a long-term deal with the franchise, Von Miller.
Miller met with media after the experience and talked about what it was like to be back with his guys.
“I felt complete, I felt back at home, I felt normal for the first time in the last couple months,” he explained. “This is when I’m myself, when I’m with my teammates and I’m with my boys, so it was a special day for me and I’m looking forward to having more special days like it.”
One of the keys to more of those special days will be getting that long-term deal done. Von feels good about the prospects of that.
“We’ve made a lot of real progress over the last couple days,” he told media outside of the White House. “I’m very optimistic about the whole thing, I remain optimistic.”
The Broncos feel the same.
“I’d love to see him tomorrow but I think we’re making progress and I think he and John [Elway] are working really hard,” head coach Gary Kubiak told James Palmer of NFL Network. “We know how important he is to our football team, our guys understand that and Von always takes care of his business. We’ll just keep working but I expect him to be ready to go.”
Miller won’t be there when the Broncos open Mandatory Mini-Camp on Tuesday morning but the negotiations between the two sides still seem to be moving in the right direction. Still no reason to sweat in Broncos Country.
