Rashard “Dallas” Higgins?
Way before he was nicknamed “Hollywood,” Rashard Higgins was from Dallas, Texas. Now, he’s up for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, which is annually given to the top college player in the country from Texas. The winner must also embody characteristics which defined Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
Higgins was a semifinalist for the award last year. He was also named a consensus All-American, only the second player in Colorado State Rams football history, following Greg Myers in 1995.
The Rams junior receiver was also named 2015 preseason Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year, preseason All-American by four different publications, as well as to the watch lists for the Maxwell Award, Belitnikoff Award and Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. Higgins was a finalist for the Belitnikoff Award last year – given to the nation’s top receiver – being edged out by Alabama’s Amari Cooper.
Higgins’ 1,750 yards and 17 touchdowns led the NCAA and were both CSU school records.
What can he do as a junior?
