“Hollywood” Higgins has gone primetime.
Rashard Higgins is Colorado State Rams football. At least, as a consensus All-American, he was last season and is even more in the spotlight this time around. After leading the country with 1,750 yards and 17 touchdowns received, he was named a Belitnikoff Award Finalist. But with MW Male Athlete of the Year Garrett Grayson on the team, even Higgins wasn’t the biggest name for CSU.
This time around, he’s the man for the Rams. Of course, he can’t throw himself the ball – though, don’t look for the things he can’t do, you’ll come up short – so, much of his production this year will depend on how well Nick Stevens or Coleman Key can get him the ball. And it’ll depend on how many teams decide to blatantly double-cover the superstar wideout. With all this preseason recognition, it seems likely some, if not all teams, will do just that.
And although he’s at the receiver position and not the almighty quarterback spot, he’s garnered attention of not only the national media, but those who cover the Mountain West as well.
On Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada at Mountain West Media Days, Higgins was named MW Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Basically, it’s an educated guess that No. 82 will be the most explosive, most exciting and most productive player in the entire conference.
Those are lofty expectations, as are the four major, national awards he’s in the running for. Colorado State’s done a great job to showcase the junior wideout on the newly created HollywoodHiggins.com, which includes an awesome highlight video of his phenomenal play.
“What motivates me is my mom,” he said in the video. “It motivates me…I’m in a position where she doesn’t have to do anything anymore. I don’t want my mom to work anymore.”
They also include those four awards he’s in contention for, as well as the accolades already received. There’s a ton of information and multiple videos, so every CSU football fan needs to check out the site.
Also, this Instagram post by CSU is well-done, too:

Colorado State kicks off their 2015 campaign at 2 p.m. MT on Sept. 5 against Savannah State. Two weeks later, Higgins and the Rams face the University of Colorado in the Rocky Mountain Showdown.
