Colorado State football has one of the deadliest offensive weapons in all of college football; Rashard “Hollywood” Higgins. But don’t just believe the local media, he’s getting national love from NFL.com, too. According to their 15 for ’15: College football’s best offensive players, Higgins receives the high praise of 13th-best player in the nation.

Higgins exploded onto the scene last season as a sophomore and shattered every CSU receiving record, catching 96 passes for 1,750 yards and 17 touchdowns. “Hollywood’s” speed and deceptiveness was so great he regularly out-ran defenders on his way to the end zone, turning five-yard passes into an 80-yard scores. He was so deft at doing so in 2014, Garrett Grayson regularly credited the speedy wideout with boosting his passing numbers in post-game press conferences. In fact, Higgins is a major reason why Grayson’s draft stock soared and he was eventually selected No. 75 overall by the New Orleans Saints.

It wasn’t just bubble screens which worked, Higgins also scored with ease on post patterns and on one memorable touchdown, shook a safety out of his shoes on the way to the end zone.

Following his stellar sophomore season, “Hollywood” was named a consensus All-American, the first Rams football player since Greg Myers in 1995 to receive the honor. Higgins was named Male College Athlete of the Year by the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame and he was also a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s top wideout, but lost to Alabama’s Amari Cooper.

Of course, he’ll have to adjust to life without Grayson while adapting to new head coach Mike Bobo’s offense in 2015. But, Higgins has the skills to prosper in the world of college football; look for him to enjoy another great year in Fort Collins.
