The Denver Nuggets have done their due diligence in preparation for the 2016 NBA Draft, with five picks total and two in the second round, they’re leaving no stones unturned. After having already conducted workouts for local products in late May, for players including former Rams, J.J. Avila, Daniel Bejarano and Stanton Kidd, now it’s Antwan Scott’s turn.

After having earned second-team All-Mountain West honors the past season to the tune of 16 points, 4 boards, and 2 assists per game, Scott seemed to open the eyes of NBA teams. Scott was one of the few true bright spots in a tough season for Colorado State Rams men’s basketball and it’s nice to see him get a fair shot from the Nuggets.

Scott appeals particularly because of his shooting. Despite a high volume of shots, he knocked down a steady 41 percent from beyond the arc. In the space and pace NBA, Scott’s ability to stretch the floor is key considering he’s undersized for a two guard.

While he offensively has lots of tools, his lack of size and age will be one of his greatest knocks when being evaluated by the NBA. Regardless of Scott’s real NBA possibilities, getting an invite with some big prospects and not just the other local players is already a cool accomplishment. As reported on the Nuggets website, Scott is one of six prospects being worked out today, including potential first-rounders DeAndre Bembry, Taurean Prince and Cheick Diallo. The Nuggets aren’t just looking for draftable players at this stage but also extra bodies for Summer League teams. The Summer League is always an important showcase for fringe NBA prospects in furthering their careers and especially in finding opportunities abroad.
