Jase Butler is quietly one of the best basketball players in the Pac-12. It’s only a matter of time before the whole country knows it.
Coming off the first double-double of his collegiate career in the game one win over Montana State, Butler was arguably even more impressive in Friday’s victory over Idaho (78-67).
In 31 minutes of action, the junior guard tied with Kyle Jorgensen for the team lead in scoring with 19 points apiece. On a night where the Rams started a bit slow offensively and led for all of 1 second in the first half, the aforementioned duo kept CSU in the game, combining for 18 of the team’s 36 points over the first 20 minutes.
Then after a buzzer-beater from Carey Booth gave the Rams their first lead of the game right before halftime, Butler and Jorgensen combined for 20 more points over the final 20 minutes, ensuring CSU never trailed again despite the Vandals refusing to go away in the matchup.
While Jorgensen did most of his damage in the post, often playing with his back to the hoop and putting Idaho defenders in a blender before using his height to get off a quality look around the rim, Butler terrorized the Vandals by putting the ball on the floor and driving hard.
