Colorado State’s new on-campus football stadium is in the works. In little more than two years, the Rams will kickoff their 2017 season in their glistening and gleaming stadium on the south end of campus in Fort Collins, and now, more details have come to light.
Here are most of them:
-Seating capacity will be 41,000 including standing room only
-10,000 seats will be dedicated to student seating
-A new north plaza entrance will invite fans including landscaping
-22 private suites
-A 5,100 square foot indoor club, which includes 147 seats and views of the front range
-Stadium Club featuring 800 seats
-Over 40 lodge boxes, or semi-private suites, with access to Stadium Club
-Sideline Field Club which is a large, field-level party patio space giving fans a view from the north end zone
-A large video board and 650 linear feet of video ribbon board around the stadium
-Hall of Champions
-17 ticketing windows and two satellite ticketing windows
-Five retail locations
-A 9,100 square foot weight room
-Sports medicine offices
-120-seat theater style meeting room
-A 3,700 square foot player recruit lounge

Another detail, which was expected, is the stadium is likely to have its naming rights sold to a company. The stadium itself, or the field, or a combination of both could be sold and the school hopes to bring in $500,000 per year for those naming rights per the Coloradoan.
It’s a bit of a bummer for those who loved the old Hughes Stadium, which was altered to include “Sonny Lubick Field” to honor two of the most influential men in the history of Colorado State football. But, it comes as no surprise in this modern age.
CSU wanted the stadium and now they have to pay for it. Naming rights are an easy way for a college or professional sports franchise to capitalize on revenue.
Sports in America are big business, as evidenced by the $220 million price tag on the new Colorado State stadium. And, they only make sense if they’re making dollars.
Though, it seems Colorado State has done well to get all of this out of $220 million, bringing an amazing new stadium which Fort Collins and the front range will enjoy for many years to come.
