Colorado State has added a pair of multi-year starters at cornerback via the transfer portal this winter. 

Elias Larry (Navy) and Isaiah Essissima (Nevada), both of which have played significant snaps during their respective careers, will each take the field for CSU in 2024. 

Larry announced his decision via Twitter last week and was the first public defensive commitment for the Green & Gold through the transfer circuit this offseason. A 6-foot, 197-pound cornerback with 26 games of previous experience under his belt, Larry comes to Fort Collins with 40 career tackles, five PBUs and a pair of interceptions. 

Essissima did not post on social media to announce his decision but he, along with a CSU staff member confirmed to DNVR that the former Nevada starter will play his final season of eligibility with the Green & Gold. 

After originally signing with Wake Forest out of high school, the 5-foot-10, 177-pound cornerback played for the Demon Deacons from 2019-20 and saw the field in 16 total games. He then played at Nevada between 2021-23, where he was a starter for 15 games and appeared in 25 total. In his career he has 59 total tackles, 12 pass deflections and three interceptions 

For a CSU secondary that will be without multiple contributors from 2023, including Chigozie Anusiem, Ron Hardge and T.J. Crandall, adding a couple of corners with starting experience is encouraging going into the spring. The Rams have quite a bit of experience at safety but would have been reliant on a lot of young talent without the additions of Larry and Essissima on the outside.
